Your health may be at risk
The issue of direct health impacts associated with noise are unknown. However, studies do report wind turbine noise is more annoying than other similar noise in your neighborhood. [1] It is documented that wind turbine noise disturbs sleep (and is of greater annoyance to rural residents when compared to suburban residents) and this can then have what is referred to as indirect impacts on one’s health. Medical experts also report ongoing sleep disturbance leads to health issues (this is why the video presentation by MSU extensionist and UMich faculty member on the township website uses the word “indirect” effects). Some research has also reported residents feeling sensations such as headache, pressure in the head, ears or chest, ringing in the ears, heart racing, pulsations in the head, fatigue or a feeling of heaviness, when exposed to wind farm noise, even when they cannot hear it.[2]
